Next, I have to admit the display is incredible. I never knew I wanted, or needed, 120 hz until I experienced it. Combine that with the giant display and the brightness increase, it is beyond beautiful.

Is the Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max worth buying at ₹1,34,900?
At ₹1,34,900 the Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max is one to skip, scoring 2.7 out of 5 against other phones at this price. It is strongest on display and weakest on value for money. That is the lowest we have recorded for it.
The ZuPick verdict
2.7out of 5
SkipBest at display, weakest at value.
This remains a polished large-screen iPhone with smooth visuals, useful cameras and lengthy software support. Slow charging, dated benchmark performance and a very high price make the compromises too substantial.
Performance2.4
It reaches about 946,000 on AnTuTu, well below what most current phones at this price manage. Five years of updates and fast NVMe storage help longevity, but 6 GB RAM leaves less headroom for demanding multitasking.Camera2.6
The 48 MP main camera, 12 MP ultrawide and 3x optical telephoto cover the essentials. However, 3x zoom is ordinary at this price, the 12 MP front camera is modest, and 4K at 24 fps offers less video flexibility than leading rivals.Display3.5
The 120 Hz Super Retina XDR panel is smooth, while the 1290x2796 resolution remains sharp. Peak brightness of 2000 nits helps outdoors, but competing premium displays are brighter and often use QHD+ resolution.Battery2.9
The 4323 mAh battery benefits from iOS efficiency, and wireless charging is convenient. However, 20 W wired charging is exceptionally slow for ₹164900, taking about two hours from 20% to full.Value1.9
The ₹164900 price is difficult to justify against newer alternatives with faster performance, quicker charging, brighter displays and stronger zoom. Its software support and polished experience do not close that gap.Price history

Pros & cons
What’s good
Smooth premium display
The 6.7-inch Super Retina XDR screen refreshes at 120 Hz, making scrolling and animations consistently fluid. The 1290x2796 resolution keeps text and video sharp.
Long software support
Five years of operating-system updates make it suitable for extended ownership. NVMe storage also keeps app launches and file handling responsive.
Flexible triple cameras
The 48 MP main camera is joined by 12 MP ultrawide and 3x telephoto cameras. Optical stabilisation helps produce steadier photos in low light.
What’s not
Extremely poor value
At ₹164900, it costs far more than many newer premium phones while falling behind them in charging, benchmark performance and long-range zoom.
Charging is painfully slow
The 20 W charging system takes about two hours to move from 20% to full. That is a major inconvenience at this price, although wireless charging adds flexibility.
Performance trails modern rivals
The A16 Bionic remains responsive in everyday use, but its benchmark result falls well behind current high-end competitors. Heavy users can get substantially more speed for less money.
Zoom reach stops early
The 3x optical telephoto works well for portraits and nearby subjects, but competitors increasingly offer 5x cameras for travel, events and distant details.
What owners say
From Redditr/iphoneu/devanss
I find it odd that even after a month my battery is slightly worse than my 12 Pro Max at 77% battery health. I’m a heavy user but I didn’t have to charge my 12 Pro Max until I got home from a 12 hour shift. Now I’m charging 3/4 of the way of my day

Mines working perfectly although I’m eyeing a battery replacement. I’m not missing the AI features at all.

If you dont care about ai stuff. Yeah its been fine for me since launch day. I changed my battery already tho

If you're still rocking an iPhone 14 Pro Max (especially purple), then we made the best investment/choice, because Apple has quite literally changed nothing, and the regular iPhone's are now pro grade.

92% for my 14 Pro Max that gets used all the time

99% on 14 Pro Max since launch. Charge almost exclusively on a 30W brick.

I had iOS 16.1 public beta installed on my 14 Pro since I got it End of September. Battery drain was terrible. I switched back to the final 16.1 on Monday and battery performance is a little bit better but still battery drain is too high for my feeling.
