Is the Apple iPhone 14 Pro worth buying at ₹1,19,900?

At ₹1,19,900 the Apple iPhone 14 Pro is one to skip, scoring 2.8 out of 5 against other phones at this price. It is strongest on performance and weakest on battery. That is the lowest we have recorded for it.

The ZuPick verdict

2.8out of 5

SkipBest at performance, weakest at battery.

This is a polished compact phone with a smooth display, long update support and useful video tools. Its slow charging, modest zoom, lower display resolution and high price make it a weak choice against current premium alternatives.

Performance3.5

Five years of updates and fast NVMe storage support responsive use and long ownership. The 6 GB RAM capacity is modest for demanding multitasking at this price.

Camera2.6

The 48 MP main camera is joined by a 12 MP ultrawide and 3x optical telephoto, giving useful framing options. However, 3x zoom, 12 MP supporting cameras and 4K at 24 fps trail stronger camera phones.

Display3.1

The 120 Hz Super Retina XDR panel is fluid, and 2000-nit peak brightness keeps it readable outdoors. The 1179x2556 resolution and brightness are behind stronger QHD+ alternatives.

Battery2.3

The 3200 mAh battery benefits from efficient iOS operation and wireless charging, but 20W wired charging is slow for such an expensive phone. Quick top-ups are less convenient than with faster-charging rivals.

Value2.4

The ₹119900 price is difficult to justify when rivals offer faster charging, longer zoom and higher-resolution displays. The software commitment and compact design recover some value, but not enough to offset the hardware compromises.

Pros & cons

What’s good

Smooth compact display

The 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR panel combines a fluid 120 Hz refresh rate with 2000-nit peak brightness. It remains comfortable to use one-handed and readable outdoors.

Long software commitment

Five years of operating-system and security updates make this suitable for extended ownership. NVMe storage also keeps app launches and file handling quick.

Strong water protection

IP68 protection covers dust and immersion in water up to 6 metres for 30 minutes. That adds useful reassurance for travel and everyday accidents.

Convenient wireless charging

Wireless charging makes routine top-ups easier at a desk or bedside. It partly offsets the slow wired charging experience.

What’s not

Weak value for money

At ₹119900, the phone combines slow charging, moderate zoom and a below-QHD+ screen. Less expensive premium rivals frequently offer stronger hardware in these areas.

Very slow wired charging

Charging is limited to 20W, which is particularly slow for this price. The advertised 50% in 30 minutes still leaves a lengthy wait for a full charge.

Zoom reach trails rivals

The 3x optical telephoto is useful for portraits and nearby subjects, but competing cameras often reach 5x. The 12 MP ultrawide and front camera are also relatively modest.

Resolution falls behind

The 1179x2556 display is sharp, but it falls short of the QHD+ detail offered by several premium alternatives. Its 2000-nit peak brightness is good outdoors rather than class-leading.

I use my phone constantly every day. April is gonna be a year for my phone and it's still at 99%. My average screen on time is 10hours (I should work on that).

Because when it drains hell fast and you have to constantly recharge it it gets annoying. Especially when w ehave optimized battery charging and been careful to keep it well. $1,200 phone. Some of us actually use our phone.

Yes I love the iphone 14 Pro I think it's the best iphone. This is just my opinion. After more than three years I have 85% battery👍

Had my battery replaced in mine at just past the 3 year mark. It’s doing alright; I don’t really have any performance issues that frustrate me to the point of upgrading. I have this and an iPad A16 with the same CPU.
