Pros & cons
The 1260x2800 curved AMOLED panel looks sharper than the usual Full HD displays in this range. Peak brightness of 4500 nits also helps a lot outdoors.
The 50 MP main camera with OIS gives it a solid base for everyday photography, and the 50 MP ultra-wide is more useful than the low-value filler cameras many rivals use. The 50 MP front camera is especially strong for selfies and video calls.
It scores about 810,000 on AnTuTu, which is comfortably above the middle of what this price buys. App switching is smooth and gaming is reliable at sensible settings.
The 5500 mAh battery is comfortably enough for a full day of heavy use. 80W charging keeps top-ups short, with 20 to 100% taking about 36 minutes.
IP68 and IP69 protection is a real plus in this bracket. The slim 190 gram body also makes the phone feel more premium than many larger battery-focused alternatives.
Day-to-day use is still smooth, but app installs, file transfers and game loading are not as quick as the UFS 3.x storage some rivals offer at this price.
That limits tap-to-pay convenience and a few accessory use cases. It is not essential for everyone, but it is a genuine omission in this bracket.
You get a good ultra-wide, but distant subjects still rely on digital zoom. That means zoom shots lose detail faster than on the few camera-focused rivals with a dedicated zoom lens.

How good is the vivo V40 5G battery?
We score it 3.8 out of 5 for battery. The 5500 mAh battery is comfortably above the usual 5000 mAh baseline, and 80W charging is properly fast. A PCMark result of 13 hours is good rather than class-leading, so the battery experience is strong overall without being the very best here.
