The ZuPick verdict

2.7out of 5
SkipBest at battery, weakest at camera.

The vivo Y31 5G gets the basics right with long battery life, 5G and strong durability, but it misses too many expectations for this price. The low-resolution LCD, basic cameras and modest performance make it difficult to recommend over stronger alternatives.

Based on specs, expert reviews and owner discussions.
Performance2.3
This is built more for basic daily use than heavy power. The Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 handles calling, messaging, browsing and light gaming well enough, but 4 GB to 6 GB RAM and eMMC 5.1 storage hold it back against faster rivals.
Camera2.0
The camera setup is serviceable for casual daylight shots, but it is modest for this budget. A 50 MP main camera with f/1.8 can capture decent photos in good light, yet 1080p30 video, an 8 MP selfie camera and the lack of stabilization limit its appeal.
Display2.2
The 120 Hz refresh rate keeps the phone feeling smooth, and 1000 nits helps outdoor visibility. The problem is the 720x1608 LCD panel, which looks noticeably less sharp and less vibrant than the Full HD AMOLED screens many rivals offer.
Battery4.1
Battery life is a clear highlight. The 6500 mAh cell is bigger than most phones in this range, and 44W charging is decent enough to avoid painfully long top-ups.
Value2.8
The big battery and strong durability help, but the overall package is hard to call great value at ₹23991. The display, storage speed and camera setup are all weaker than what many buyers can get around this budget.

Pros & cons

What’s good
Huge battery life

The 6500 mAh battery is a real strength in this price range. It should comfortably last a full day of heavy use and can stretch well into a second day with lighter use.

Strong durability package

IP68 and IP69 protection is better than what many rivals offer here. It adds useful peace of mind for rain, dust and rough daily handling.

Smooth everyday display

The 120 Hz screen keeps scrolling and app navigation fluid. Stereo speakers also make videos and casual gaming more enjoyable than on basic single-speaker phones.

Clean main camera in daylight

The 50 MP main camera with f/1.8 aperture should do a decent job in good light. Autofocus and Aura Light help it stay usable for casual photos and portraits.

What’s not
Low-resolution screen

The 720x1608 LCD is a major weakness at this price. Text and videos will look less sharp than the Full HD AMOLED panels that are common in competing phones.

Weak value for money

At ₹23991, the hardware mix feels entry-level in key areas. 4 GB or 6 GB RAM with eMMC storage is hard to justify when many alternatives offer faster overall hardware.

Basic camera system

You get a simple 50 MP main camera without OIS, 4K video or a useful secondary lens. Low-light shots and video quality will fall behind stronger camera-focused options.

Entry-level performance

The Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 is fine for calling, apps and light gaming, but this is not a strong performer for demanding games or heavy multitasking in this budget.

I recently updated my phone to OriginOS 6 (Android 16) and my Bluetooth gaming controller is completely broken now. It worked perfectly on Android 15.

The Problem is: When using a Bluetooth controller, single button presses are only registered once every 2 seconds. If I mash a single button, the inputs are ignored.

And no my controller is perfect when I use it on a different phone which isn't on Android 16 it works perfectly I tried every solution i could find but they all failed.

Now I regret thinking that Origin 6 would make my phone better.
