The ZuPick verdict
The vivo T5e covers basic calling, messaging and media use, with battery capacity and storage expansion as its main strengths. Its low-resolution display, slow charging, entry-level performance, basic cameras and lack of 5G make it difficult to recommend.

Pros & cons
The 5500 mAh battery should comfortably handle a full day of calls, messaging and video. Lighter users can stretch it further.
The 90 Hz refresh rate makes menus, social feeds and web pages feel smoother than a basic 60 Hz screen. The large 6.74-inch display also suits video viewing.
Storage can be expanded by up to 2 TB, providing plenty of room for downloaded videos, music and photos. This helps offset the modest 64 GB internal capacity.
The phone is limited to 4G while 5G is common around this price. That makes it a poor long-term choice for buyers upgrading their primary phone.
The 720x1600 screen is noticeably less sharp than Full HD alternatives. Brightness of 570 nits is comfortable indoors but can look subdued under harsh sunlight.
The combination of 4 GB RAM and eMMC storage can feel slow during app installation, multitasking and gaming. Demanding games will need low graphics settings.
The 8 MP rear and 5 MP front cameras offer limited detail, especially indoors. Video is restricted to 1080p at 30 fps, and the rear camera lacks optical stabilisation.
