The ZuPick verdict

2.6out of 5
SkipBest at battery, weakest at camera.

The vivo Y05 gets attention with its large battery, smooth 120 Hz display and IP65 protection, but too many core areas fall short for ₹14999. Performance, cameras, storage and the lack of 5G make it a weak buy in this price bracket.

Based on specs, expert reviews and owner discussions.
Performance2.0
It scores about 342,000 on AnTuTu, which is below par for this price. 4 GB RAM and eMMC storage keep basic apps usable, but app loading, multitasking and gaming are limited, and 4G-only support hurts long-term appeal.
Camera1.7
This is a very basic camera setup for the money. The 8 MP main camera can handle simple daylight shots, but detail is limited, low-light results are weak, and video tops out at 1080p.
Display3.4
The 120 Hz screen feels smooth in daily use, and peak brightness of 1200 nits helps outdoors. The 720x1600 LCD panel is the weak point, looking less sharp than Full HD rivals in this price range.
Battery4.0
Battery life is the main strength here. The 6500 mAh cell is bigger than what most phones at this price offer, though 15W charging is on the slower side.
Value1.8
The big battery and smooth display help, but the overall package is hard to justify at ₹14999. 4 GB RAM, 64 GB storage, basic cameras and 4G-only connectivity leave it behind stronger alternatives in this range.

Pros & cons

What’s good
Very large battery

The 6500 mAh battery is the standout here. It should comfortably last a full day and can stretch well into a second day with lighter use.

Smooth 120 Hz display

A 120 Hz refresh rate makes scrolling feel smoother than basic 60 Hz phones. The 1200 nits brightness also helps with outdoor visibility.

IP65 protection

IP65 water and dust resistance is a useful extra at this price. It adds some peace of mind for daily use around splashes and dusty conditions.

What’s not
4G only connectivity

At ₹14999, being limited to 4G is a major drawback. Most buyers in this range should expect 5G for better long-term value.

Weak camera setup

The 8 MP rear camera and 5 MP front camera are very basic for this price. Photos are fine for casual snaps, but detail and low-light quality will be limited.

Entry-level performance

About 342,000 on AnTuTu is modest in this range. Everyday apps will run, but gaming and heavier multitasking will feel limited.

Low storage value

4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage are hard to justify at this price. Many rivals offer more memory and storage for similar money.

I've used poco m4 (2022-2026), got it for around 13k back then and recently purchased vivo y05 for 14.5k... but poco used to perform better

Just save up until you have RM500 ~ 700. There are tons of affordable budget phones available that worth it. If you did add your budget i do recommend y05 from vivo it still new on the market .
