Is the Samsung Galaxy A57 5G worth buying at ₹58,999?

At ₹58,999 the Samsung Galaxy A57 5G is one to skip, scoring 2.9 out of 5 against other phones at this price. It is strongest on display and weakest on camera. That is the lowest we have recorded for it.

The ZuPick verdict

2.9out of 5
SkipBest at display, weakest at camera.

The Galaxy A57 5G gets the fundamentals right with a slim IP68 design, a good AMOLED display and excellent long-term software support. Against similarly priced rivals, though, it gives up too much in zoom photography, charging speed and overall hardware punch.

Performance3.1
It scores about 1.4 million on AnTuTu, which puts it around the middle of this class rather than near the top. UFS 3.1 storage is still quick enough, and six years of updates adds real long-term value.
Camera2.3
The 50 MP main camera, 12 MP ultrawide and optical stabilisation cover the basics well, but the lack of a telephoto lens is a clear weakness at this price. 4K at 30 fps is also behind the stronger video setups in this range.
Display3.2
The 120 Hz AMOLED panel is smooth and peak brightness of 1900 nits is good enough for outdoor use, but the 1080x2340 resolution is only average in a class where sharper 1.5K screens are increasingly common.
Battery2.7
The 5000 mAh battery is fine and the 11h 36m battery life result is respectable, but 45W charging is merely mid-pack here and there is no wireless charging for added convenience.
Value3.2
At ₹48990, it lands in a competitive part of the market where buyers can expect stronger standout hardware. Its long software support helps justify the price, but the camera and charging trade-offs stop it from feeling like exceptional value.

Pros & cons

What’s good
Slim premium build

At 6.9 mm and 179 grams, it is notably sleek for a phone with a 5000 mAh battery. The IP68 rating also adds proper water and dust resistance, which still matters at this price.

Strong software lifespan

Six years of OS updates is a major long-term advantage. If you keep phones for four years or more, this is the kind of support that helps the phone age better.

Bright 120 Hz AMOLED

The 120 Hz Super AMOLED Plus panel looks smooth and peak brightness of 1900 nits helps outdoors. It is a good-quality screen for streaming, reading and everyday use.

Reliable everyday performance

It scores about 1.4 million on AnTuTu, which is solid for daily use and comfortable multitasking. UFS 3.1 storage also keeps app loads and installs reasonably quick.

What’s not
No telephoto camera

This is the biggest camera trade-off at this price. You get main and ultrawide coverage, but rivals with 3x or 5x zoom are much better for portraits, events and distant subjects.

Charging is only average

45W charging is usable, but many phones around this price refill much faster. If you top up in short bursts, this gives away convenience to quicker-charging rivals.

Display lacks extra sharpness

The 1080x2340 screen is fine, but many competitors in this range now move to sharper 1.5K panels. That makes this one feel less special for the money.

Storage tech trails leaders

UFS 3.1 is still perfectly usable, but some alternatives now offer faster storage. That shows up more in heavy installs, large game loads and long-term responsiveness.

I'be been "holding out" since I got my A52. Year after year Samsung releases more and more disappointing and more and more expensive phones. I think I just lost hope that they're going to release a good phone at a reasonable price any time soon.

r/Androidu/RobRoy2350 · 7 mo ago

Same here. My A52 5G has an earphone jack, sd card slot and better camera that the A57. I know without updates it will become obsolete but I'll use it until the last minute.

This new A57 5G is by far the best Samsung Galaxy A series phone I've ever used or owned. My biggest gripe is definitely the price though. At $799.99CAD for the extra 256GB variant that seems rather excessive.

Dispite all this, i still liked it so much I've literally switched to my Xiaomi 15 512GB (flagship sn 8 elite phone) to the 256GB model just because of how amazing it feels and preforms on benchmark tests just literally a bit behind my galaxy S23
