The ZuPick verdict

3.4out of 5
ConsiderBest at display, weakest at value.

This is a camera-focused choice with an excellent display, genuine optical zoom and long software support. Average battery hardware, older storage technology and modest base storage keep it from being the most balanced purchase.

Based on specs, expert reviews and owner discussions.
Performance3.7
It scores about 810,000 on AnTuTu, delivering smooth daily use, heavy multitasking and solid gaming performance. The 8 GB RAM configuration is sufficient, but UFS 2.2 storage holds back loading and transfer speeds.
Camera3.6
OIS, 4K video, a 50 MP selfie camera and a rare 3x optical periscope camera create a versatile setup. The 50 MP main camera is dependable, though its f/1.88 aperture limits the package from reaching the top tier.
Display4.0
The AMOLED panel is bright, smooth and sharp, with 3000-nit peak brightness supporting excellent outdoor visibility and impactful HDR. The 120 Hz refresh rate is fluid, though common at this price.
Battery2.9
The 5000 mAh battery and tested endurance of about 14 hours and 26 minutes should cover a normal day. Charging at 50 W is competent but trails the fastest alternatives.
Value2.3
At ₹27,999 for 8 GB RAM and 128 GB storage, the entry configuration is relatively expensive for its memory and storage capacity. The periscope camera and long support commitment help justify some of that premium.

Pros & cons

What’s good
Useful periscope camera

The 50 MP periscope camera offers 3x optical zoom, a rare advantage at this price. It captures distant subjects with more detail than digital zoom.

Bright AMOLED display

The 6.77-inch AMOLED display combines smooth 120 Hz movement with strong outdoor visibility. Its 3000-nit peak brightness also helps with HDR highlights.

Versatile camera package

The 50 MP main camera has OIS for steadier photos and video, while the 50 MP front camera records in 4K. The ultrawide camera adds flexibility for groups and landscapes.

Long software support

Three Android version updates and six years of security updates make it suitable for extended ownership. NFC, 5G and IP64 protection round out the everyday features.

What’s not
Middling battery performance

The 5000 mAh battery lasts about 14 hours and 26 minutes in testing, which is adequate rather than exceptional. Its 50 W charging is also around the middle of this class.

Slower storage technology

UFS 2.2 storage can make large game installations and file transfers feel slower than phones using newer UFS 3.x or UFS 4.x storage.

Heavy in the hand

At 211 grams, the phone can feel cumbersome during long gaming, reading or video sessions. Buyers who prefer compact, lightweight devices may find it tiring.

I have the Nothing Phone 3a Pro and while I really like its looks, design, and OS, lately I feel like maybe I should’ve gone with OnePlus instead.

Nothing OS presents itself as something unique, but in reality it’s missing some simple quality-of-life features I expected. For example, a proper game mode or an AI-based image remover.

The camera is also inconsistent. It takes great shots of nature, but when it comes to taking pictures of people, the image processing is pretty bad.
