I’ve been using the Nothing Phone (4a) Pro for about a week now, and overall, it’s been a solid experience. I wasn’t completely convinced by the new design at first, but the metal back actually feels quite premium in hand, even if it adds a bit of weight.

The ZuPick verdict
This is a well-balanced premium phone with a standout display, a genuinely useful zoom camera and good everyday performance. It gives up some polish in charging, water resistance and video features, but the price keeps it competitive.

Pros & cons
The 1260x2800 AMOLED panel is sharper than plain Full HD screens, and 144 Hz scrolling feels especially smooth. Peak brightness of 5000 nits also helps a lot outdoors.
A dedicated periscope zoom lens is a real advantage at this price, where many rivals still skip telephoto entirely. It gives you cleaner portraits and better reach for distant subjects.
It scores about 1.4 million on AnTuTu, which is solid for this price and enough for demanding apps and gaming. UFS 3.1 storage also keeps app loads and installs reasonably quick.
The 5400 mAh battery is larger than many premium rivals offer. Combined with good endurance, it should comfortably get most people through a full day.
50W charging is usable, but it is behind the faster systems common in this price range. A full charge taking about 64 minutes feels merely fine, not premium-fast.
At this price, cable-only charging is a noticeable omission. Several alternatives add the convenience of topping up on a pad at your desk or bedside.
IP65 gives basic protection from dust and splashes, but it is not the stronger IP68 sealing many buyers now expect in this bracket.
Rear video stops at 4K30, so it misses the smoother 4K60 recording many rivals offer. The front camera also stays at Full HD rather than pushing higher.
What owners say
From RedditThe display is bright and sharp, the speakers are impressively loud with good sound quality, and the battery comfortably lasts through a full day of use.
I switched from an S24 Ultra to the Nothing Phone 4a Pro last Sunday, and I NO regrets! I love it! It get amazing reception through T-Mobile and I get Wi-Fi 6 on this phone through AT&T Fiber.
Nothing phone 4a pro, has pretty much been the same through and through since its launch and after updates, they didnt throttle down the SOC that much and the performance is pretty much what youd expect, tho id worry about the price more than the phone itself, there's been a prize hike and if you can get it discounted then sure
I was a bored apple/android user and I got the 4a pro (using on T-Mobile) and it has cured my phone /tech boredom.
The difference between 4a pro's high end and a Phone 3 on discount doesn't justify you going for Nothing's A series model because you miss out on a lot of "flagship" features.
a) I think 4a Pro is a beautiful phone and will bring a lot of more conservative buyers into the NOTHING ecosystem, but... b) I really hope this isn't a direction they continue down because, despite beautiful, it is as you say - more generic.
Good review. You know, one of my hesitations getting a nothing phone was it being "too big" as I previously came from a standard size s25, and before that an iPhone 13 mini...the nothing really didn't feel uncomfortable to me at all. I got use to it very quickly and enjoy the size.
