Had to buy a new phone recently just to open an SBI bank account (their app needs Android 12+ 🤦♂️). This was around Jan 30, right before my birthday. Initially planned to get the POCO C75 5G, but couldn’t find it offline. Ended up at Vijay Sales and felt convincing to buy the Redmi 14C 5G.

Pros & cons
The Snapdragon 4 Gen 2, 5G and UFS storage make calling, messaging and everyday apps feel responsive. App installation and loading are quick for this budget.
The 6.88-inch display scrolls smoothly, making social feeds and menus feel more fluid. Its large size also works well for videos and reading.
The 50 MP main camera has autofocus and a bright f/1.8 lens. It can capture detailed outdoor photos and lets in more light indoors.
Two Android updates and four years of security updates help the phone remain safe and useful for longer.
A dedicated memory-card slot, headphone jack, side fingerprint reader and splash-resistant body add everyday convenience.
The 720x1640 screen is fine for video and messaging, but small text and fine details look less crisp than on sharper screens.
The 18 W charging takes around 84 minutes to move from 20% to 100%. Short top-ups will not add power especially quickly.
At 205 grams with a 6.88-inch screen, this phone can feel bulky during one-handed use or long calls.
What owners say
From RedditThought I was getting a good deal — 5G + latest Android + around 10k. Seemed like a win-win. But honestly, this has been the worst phone purchase I’ve ever made.
The phone lags while receiving calls… like the ringtone literally stutters even when no apps are open or just sitting around idle. The “4+4 GB RAM” feels like a gimmick. If anything, it just makes performance worse.
Storage situation ~74GB used out of 128GB. Out of which, system + system files alone take up ~27GB (13.34GB + 13.71GB). That’s insane for a budget device. Filled with unnecessary bloatware right out of the box.
What’s worse is my old OPPO A5 2020 still runs smoother even with barely 1GB storage left. That says a lot. This was my first Xiaomi device, and honestly, it completely killed my expectations for their budget phones.
Would NOT recommend this phone to anyone. Edit: Also noticed that mobile data randomly cuts off and comes back on its own while using the phone. It feels like I turned off data manually, everything just goes blank and then reconnects after a few seconds.
which connects with 5G better. My Hostel has bad 5G Signal, still iPhones and cost higher androids get 5G better than my Redmi 14C - Opens app faster, (whenever I open whatsapp or reddit in 14C, it takes two seconds to get opened. not a serious problem, but somewhat irritable)
Battery should not drain much faster (14c is the worst in that, I haven't used their 120Hz refresh mode, still battery drains faster) - has panorama mode in camera (redmi 14c doesn't have that)
should have some good protection glass (my redmi note 9 was way stronger than 14c) - In 14c, whenever i connect to speaker via bluetooth and turning on hotspot simultaneously, audio will get stuttered while playing music
