The ZuPick verdict

3.2out of 5
ConsiderBest at display, weakest at camera.

The Galaxy A36 5G gets the basics right with a very good display, dependable cameras, strong software support and premium extras. It makes most sense for buyers who value polish and longevity more than outright speed or battery endurance.

Based on specs, expert reviews and owner discussions.
Performance3.2
It scores about 655,000 on AnTuTu, which is slightly below the middle of what this price buys. Everyday apps, social media and routine multitasking feel smooth, but demanding games need tempered expectations.
Camera2.6
The 50 MP main camera with OIS and 4K video gives it a solid base for casual photography. The main camera should do well in daylight, but the overall setup is more dependable than standout.
Display4.1
This is a strong screen for the money: a sharp 1080x2340 Super AMOLED panel, 120 Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of 1900 nits. It looks vibrant indoors and stays comfortably readable outside.
Battery2.8
The 5000 mAh battery and 45W charging are decent, but overall stamina is only modest here. It will get through a normal day, though power users have better options in this price range.
Value3.1
You are paying for a polished Samsung experience, long software support and useful extras like NFC, IP67 and DeX. The value is fair, though raw performance and battery return are not class-leading at this price.

Pros & cons

What’s good
Bright AMOLED display

The 6.7-inch Super AMOLED panel looks rich and sharp, and 1900 nits of peak brightness helps a lot outdoors. 120 Hz scrolling keeps everyday use smooth.

Clean, durable design

The slim 7.4 mm body feels modern, while Gorilla Glass Victus Plus and IP67 water resistance add real peace of mind for long-term use.

Reliable main camera

The 50 MP main camera with OIS is dependable for daily photography. Daylight shots should come out clean, and stabilization helps keep low-light photos and videos steadier.

Long software support

Samsung promises 6 years of OS and security updates, which is excellent for buyers who keep phones for a long time. That adds value beyond raw hardware.

Useful extras included

NFC, Wi-Fi 6E, stereo speakers and Samsung DeX make the phone more versatile than many rivals. These are practical upgrades, not filler features.

What’s not
Average raw performance

AnTuTu of about 655,000 is around the lower-middle part of this price range. Daily use will be smooth, but heavier games and demanding multitasking are not this phone's strongest area.

Battery life trails rivals

The 5000 mAh battery is fine for a full day, but the tested endurance is modest for this class. Heavy users may end the day with less cushion than on stronger battery-focused alternatives.

Slow storage class

UFS 2.2 storage is functional, but app installs, large file transfers and game loading are not as quick as the better storage systems some rivals offer.

Bought A36 last friday. Totally regret it. Heats up even with normal usage and lags often. Even though i have turned off GPS, Bluetooth and location, heating is there even with normal usage. Battery backup is also not good.

I've been using this A36 5G since the beginning of November, and after three months of use and the updates it's received, I can say the improvements have been slight. Regarding battery life, it used to barely last me a day, now it can last a day and a half with light use

The biggest issue I'm having, however, is that it gets really hot even when using the most basic options, or simply opening WhatsApp. Beyond this problem, the phone experiences heavy frame lag 90% of the time, and it's as if it can't even handle light multitasking.

Using an A36 5G since a week now coming from an A52s 5G and very happy with it. From work I have the A56 and they even have the same case so I sometimes pick up the wrong phone.
