The ZuPick verdict
The POCO M5 combines strong endurance, a sharp screen and acceptable everyday speed. At ₹14,499, its 4G-only connectivity and slow charging outweigh those strengths when compared with similarly priced alternatives.

Pros & cons
The 5000 mAh battery lasted about 18 hours in testing. It comfortably handles a full day and can stretch further with lighter use.
The 1080x2408 resolution keeps text, videos and web pages looking crisp. Its 90 Hz refresh rate also makes scrolling smoother than a basic 60 Hz screen.
UFS 2.2 storage helps apps install and open quickly. The 128 GB option provides useful room for games, photos and downloaded videos.
The 50 MP main camera with an f/1.8 aperture and autofocus can produce clean daylight photos. Focus is quick enough for casual shots of people and everyday scenes.
The POCO M5 is a 4G-only phone, which is a major compromise at ₹14,499. Many similarly priced alternatives support faster 5G networks and offer better long-term usefulness.
The 18 W charging takes close to two hours to go from 20% to full. Short charging sessions add relatively little power compared with common 30 W and faster alternatives.
Brightness reaches 500 nits, so direct sunlight can make the screen harder to read. The LCD panel also lacks the deeper blacks and stronger contrast of AMOLED alternatives.
