The ZuPick verdict

3.7out of 5
ConsiderBest at camera, weakest at value.

The Infinix HOT 40i gets a lot right for a budget phone, especially storage, selfie camera, battery life and everyday smoothness. The main compromise is the HD+ display, which keeps it just short of the strongest picks.

Based on specs, expert reviews and owner discussions.
Performance4.1
For everyday use, this is better than many budget phones. About 266,000 on AnTuTu, 8 GB RAM and UFS 2.2 storage mean smoother app use, quicker installs and better multitasking than usual at this budget.
Camera4.4
The camera setup is strong for the money. You get a 50 MP main camera with autofocus, a bright f/1.6 lens, Full HD video recording and an excellent 32 MP front camera for selfies and video calls.
Display2.9
The 90 Hz screen helps scrolling feel smoother than a basic 60 Hz panel. Its 720x1612 resolution and 480 nits brightness are adequate for everyday use, though sharpness and outdoor visibility stay fairly ordinary.
Battery3.8
Battery life is one of the stronger parts here. The 5000 mAh battery lasts well, the tested endurance is close to 19 hours, and 18W charging is decent for this price.
Value2.9
It is priced near the top of this budget range, so it is not a bargain pick. Even so, the strong memory setup, good battery life and capable cameras help justify the asking price.

Pros & cons

What’s good
Big memory setup

8 GB RAM with 256 GB storage is unusually generous at this price. It gives you more room for apps, photos, videos and offline downloads without feeling cramped quickly.

Fast everyday storage

UFS 2.2 storage helps apps install and open faster than basic storage. Day-to-day use feels smoother when updating apps, copying files and switching between common tasks.

Strong battery life

The 5000 mAh battery, 18W charging and nearly 19 hours of tested use make this a dependable phone for long days. It should comfortably handle calls, messaging, video and browsing.

Good selfie camera

The 32 MP front camera is a real plus for video calls and selfies. It should give clearer front shots than many budget phones, especially in good light.

Useful extras included

NFC, a side fingerprint sensor, headphone jack and splash resistance add practical value. These are small touches that make daily use easier and more complete.

What’s not
Display is only HD+

The 720x1612 screen is fine for video and messaging, but text and images are not as crisp as sharper screens. You will notice this more when reading small text for long periods.

Brightness is average

Peak brightness of 480 nits is workable indoors and okay outdoors, but strong sunlight can still make the screen harder to read. It is serviceable rather than standout.

Basic gaming power

It scores about 266,000 on AnTuTu, which is decent for everyday use but not built for heavier games. Casual games should run fine, while demanding titles will need lower settings.

Mine's the Hot 40i, and yeah, "Smartphone Ka Bap" wasn't just a tagline for me, it genuinely felt that way at the time. Held up through everything I threw at it, and it's the phone that actually got me into this whole ecosystem.

Mine is also the hot 40i, im still using it right now lol but its gonna need to retire soon. Right now the only issue i have is the area around the front camera is starting to develop these black lines, but everything else still works perfectly fine, definitely worth it for the cheap price

I personally have an Infinix Hot 40i, and it's been fairing well. Long battery that survives my daily usage, good storage, and it supports a lot of apps for me. I can't say much about it, but I've had it since 2024 and it's holding up very well.

I own Infinix Hot 40i for almost 3 years now. The only issue I have is suddenly my fingerprints are not working anymore, but I think it's my fault kasi ginagamit ko sya na basa ang kamay ko. BUT, the performance is still okay even though I'm on Android ver 13.
