A few weeks in with pixel 8, I exhausted by 4G data so I forced my phone to work on NR only (5G) - later to realize that Pixel 8 does not support VoNR calling i.e. 5G calling. I'm not sure if it's a software thing that google can fix with future updates but as of now phone won't receive nor allow calls with 5G network.

From RedditSo today, with much anticipation, I set up my shiny new Pixel 8, excited to see what they've done since 3 generations ago. Early thoughts? There's not much to write home about. It's fine.
Some fairly noticeable speed improvements. If there's a better camera, I guess I'll only know if I print the photos. If there's cool new software, I haven't noticed it yet. The screen? I can't really tell the difference from the P5. It looks good, yes, but not distinctly better.
The battery life? Time will tell, but it's currently draining slightly quicker than I'd like. It definitely feels like a more premium phone, and I'm glad they kept it small. I love the Hazel colour too.
I bought the Pixel 8 (non-Pro) on release day, and after 2 weeks of daily use, I can confidently say that this is a bad-value phone that offers poor ergonomics and user experience that is not acceptable in the lower-premium phone segment.
The Pixel 8 does not compete with similar Apple nor Samsung offerings in any scenario other than taking photos with the main rear sensor. Many people who purchased the Pixel 8 seem to overlook the phone's shortcomings that should not be acceptable for the cost.
I bought a Pixel 8 in January/2024 and all was good until March/2026 I started having an intermittent pink vertical line on the display. Of course, right after the 2 year warranty period.
This is where it gets frustrating - there is absolutely NO option to get in touch with the repair team, no phone number, e-mail, NOTHING - so that I could explain and send the photos.
Hey yall so I had this Google pixel 8 for about 2 years and so far the hardware and software has been aging terribly. Idk what y’all’s experience with this phone but mine current unit is having display issues like for example, when I press on the screen (even a light tap) the screen just flickers
Also another thing the software has been very buggy after android 14 which has been pretty frustrating. Honestly I’ve never had a phone age badly after two years of owning it the long term which is ashame because Google has a very good feel when it comes to software
