I own a Motorola Edge 40 running Android 14. It originally shipped with Android 13 out of the box, and I updated it to 14 a few months ago. Since the update, I've been having this issue which is driving me nuts.

The ZuPick verdict
The Edge 40 combines a fluid display, slim design and premium conveniences, but its battery life and performance are substantial compromises. Better-balanced alternatives offer stronger hardware for similar money.

Pros & cons
The curved 6.55-inch OLED display runs at 144 Hz, making scrolling and animations especially smooth. Its slim bezels also create an immersive viewing experience.
The 50 MP f/1.4 main camera uses optical stabilisation for steadier low-light shots. A 13 MP ultrawide and 32 MP front camera provide useful flexibility.
IP68 protection makes the phone safer around water and dust, while 15 W wireless charging adds flexibility. NFC and stereo speakers further improve everyday use.
At 167 grams and 7.49 mm thick, it is noticeably easier to hold and carry than many large-screen alternatives. The curved design reinforces its premium feel.
The 4400 mAh battery lasted 9 hours and 5 minutes in testing, which is poor for this price. Although 68 W charging helps, frequent users may still need an evening recharge.
It reaches about 675,000 on AnTuTu, well behind many similarly priced phones. Everyday operation is smooth, but demanding games and sustained heavy workloads expose the gap.
There is no telephoto camera, so portraits and distant subjects rely on digital cropping. Camera-focused alternatives offer much cleaner zoom results.
Two operating-system upgrades and three years of security updates are modest for a phone intended to last three or four years. Longer-supported competitors are safer long-term purchases.

From RedditThis is my first and last Motorola phone. My previous device, a Realme 7 Pro, which I used for three years, performed better in almost every aspect: Realme UI did not degrade as drastically as Moto UI over time.
i bought mine in Australia and mine is made in China. I dont know about moto phones sold in india but my edge 40 has been working flawlessly, bought it in oct 2023. I was really surprised by the ultrawide on this since its better than my s21 which i traded in for the edge 40
same with battery, I get a solid 6-6 1/2 hrs of SOT on heavy usage and 7-8hrs on wifi only indoor usage. no games ever. Only feature i miss is camera switching when recording videos but other than that i am happy with edge 40.
I'm currently on Feb 2025 update and everything works fine. Only issue for me is youtube comments take time to load and lags when scrolling yt comments when video is playing. Then X lags initially on chrome. But reddit on chrome works fine.
As someone who has used Motorola and Samsung flagships - I'd recommend the Samsung purely because of two reasons (both preferential): Longer software support More software features
